Woolston Park

Woolston, Christchurch

October 2019 to June 2020

Christchurch City Council

Overview

Woolston Park Sports Fields had suffered from a poor-quality sports turf surface for a number of years. This was related to the uneven surface and ponding of surface water that was exacerbated by the earthquakes and subsequent ground movement.

The works to address this included the remediation of the turf playing surface levels and associated drainage, irrigation and turf replacement. To assist with drainage issues, the existing damaged/blocked stormwater pipe from the adjoining Cul-de-sac and park buildings was renewed with a dual use pipe incorporating the new playground and sports surface drainage.
