About Us

Grounds & Services Limited (GSL) is based in Hornby, Christchurch and has been providing landscape, grounds maintenance, civil construction and roading maintenance services for the past 25 years.

GSL has a long-established reputation for providing a diverse range of services, including ground spraying, pest plant control, soft landscaping, hydro seeding, sports turf development and maintenance, roadside and specialist mowing and native habitat restoration. Our Traffic Management team play a significant role in keeping our team safe while undertaking these activities, operating in and around the Canterbury area. Some of our existing grounds maintenance, civil construction, landscaping and gardening contracts extend from the Kaikoura Coast in the North to the Waitaki River in the South and West to the Southern Alps. Our extensive range of plant and equipment is supplemented by our transportation fleet to get the resources to where they need to go, and our large certified workshop ensures the fleet is regularly serviced and maintained.

Our teams take pride and are passionate about the work they do and the environments they enhance and maintain. These environments are varied and could be sports fields, highway roadsides, urban or coastal parks, schools, large scale civil construction projects or private residences. We also partner with community groups to restore their local park as a native wilderness.

The Opportunity

Business is booming and we are currently in another growth spurt. We are seeking those that share our love of the
great outdoors, possess a can-do positive attitude and who take pride in their high standard of work.

Your main role will be working within the traffic management team, including driving an AWVMS, or providing piloting services to the mowing or spraying operations on the highway when qualified and approved as competent.
You will be part of the open spaces team and will assist with a variety of activities such as manual traffic control, completing landscaping projects, roadside maintenance or spray vegetation maintenance. As well as being a key part in keeping our team safe, you will have the ability to gel with our team and be prepared to get stuck in and complete whatever tasks are required.

As part of the Traffic Management team, you will be fully supported by experienced Traffic Management experts who will guide and mentor you on the job, providing full training and competency opportunities for you to earn as you learn. What You'll Bring

• Full NZ Driver License and the ability to operate a manual vehicle essential
• Ability to listen to and follow instructions on the job
• Motivation to participate in training and to learning new skills on the job
• Ability to be flexible and adaptable to change to assist with a variety of activities
• Energetic and positive attitude with an enjoyment for physical work and the great outdoors
• Ability to communicate and work well in our team
• Willingness to work away from the home base and on varying work shifts as required
